Alicia Avick

P.E., LEED AP BD+C, CxA

President

B.S. Mechanical Engineering, University of Notre Dame

 

Ms. Avick founded Advantus Engineers in 2004, specializing in commissioning, ATC and HVAC design, and consulting services. With her background in controls, she has acted as an owner’s representative as well as a Certified Commissioning Authority. Ms. Avick has extensive commissioning management and onsite experience, including design and submittal reviews, assisting architects and engineers in preparing commissioning specifications, and systems testing oversight. The majority of Ms. Avick’s engineering and commissioning experience has been on green buildings where sustainability is an overarching goal.

 

Julie Barg

P.E.

Director of Environmental Services

B.S. Civil Engineering, University of Notre Dame

 

Ms. Barg joined Advantus in 2015, specializing in water resources engineering and environmental services. She is a registered Professional Engineer and a certified Environmental Management System (EMS) Lead Auditor. Prior to joining Advantus Engineers, Ms. Barg worked for Michael Baker International and performed stormwater compliance, sustainability planning, remedial investigation and reporting, facility planning, and EMS program development projects.

 

Angelica Ciranni

Director of Sustainability

B.S. Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Pittsburgh

 

Ms. Ciranni joined Advantus in 2019 as Director of Sustainability. She assists design and operations teams in creating and maintaining healthy and high performing buildings and communities. Ms. Ciranni previously led the Pittsburgh 2030 District as Vice President of Strategy and Innovation at Green Building Alliance, managed the green building program at PNC Bank, and managed the sustainability and public art programs at the Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.

 

Glenn Avick

Mr. Avick has worked in engineering for over 45 years as a consulting engineer, construction project manager, and as chief facilities engineer for a five-million-square-foot campus. His design and project management experience include central chiller and heating plants, industrial and institutional ventilation systems, hydronic heating, and clean room design.Mr. Avick specializes in project management while also remaining actively involved in our engineering projects.

 

William Mozelewski

Engineer / Construction Inspector

B.S. Civil and Mining Engineering, West Virginia University

 

Mr. Mozelewski holds double engineering degrees from the West Virginia University as well as his EMT Certification. This unique skill set makes him a true asset to our engineering and construction projects.  His engineering background and experience in inspection and safety make him an outstanding addition to our team.

 

Wayne Wehrle

P.E.

Senior Engineer

B.S. Mechanical Engineering, University of Pittsburgh

 

Mr. Wehrle has almost 40 years’ experience in mechanical engineering, facilities engineering design, project management, and administration.  Advantus was pleased to have Mr. Wehrle join Advantus upon his retirement from Pittsburgh Public Schools in 2017.  His extensive knowledge of not only mechanical engineering and construction, but also facility maintenance and operation is a huge asset to Advantus in design, project administration, and commissioning work.

 

Daniel Katz

Project Engineer

B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Penn State

 

Mr. Katz is a mechanical engineer and military veteran. He joined Advantus in 2023. Mr. Katz was previously a mechanical engineer for a design/build contractor. Prior to that, he served in the PA Army National Guard. His military project and design/build experience allow him to seamlessly work with both design and construction teams.

 

Mr. Duke joined Advantus in 2023 and brings over 30 years of experience in building operations. In this previous employment as the Steamfitter Foreman at the LEED-certified David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Mr. Duke oversaw the operation and maintenance of all facility equipment, including HVAC, steam distribution, climate control systems, refrigeration equipment, and fire protection systems.

Mike Duke

Commissioning Assistant

 

Ms. Markovich has over 30 years of diversified administrative experience. As Director of Administration, she provides proactive assistance in the day-to-day operation working directly with the President/Owner as well as interacting with the entire staff and client base. Her primary responsibilities include managing a comprehensive variety of essential functions in bookkeeping, payroll, and HR that support both the business and its employees.
