Advantus has served Pittsburgh and the surrounding region for over 15 years and provides a wide range of services to meet our clients’ needs. In addition to our services listed below, we have provided clients with additional services by partnering with other firms to manage environmental concerns, specialty investigations, and provide project and construction management.
Building Commissioning
Advantus has provided commissioning services since 2004. Commissioning involves a highly qualified team of engineers and technicians to review the systems within a facility and verify that the operation of the systems and equipment are consistent with the project’s design and the intent of the Owner’s team. In addition to being a best practice, commissioning has become a code requirement for most projects.
Sustainability
Advantus assists owners and design, construction, and operations teams in creating and maintaining healthy and high-performing buildings and communities. We focus on comprehensive strategies to address energy and water efficiency, stormwater management, mobility and alternative transportation, healthy materials selection, waste reduction, and other essential features of sustainable infrastructure. We have experience with a wide variety of sustainability frameworks including LEED, WELL, WELL Health-Safety Rating, Living Building Challenge, EcoDistricts, Fitwel, and the 2030 Challenge. Advantus also assists clients with developing and executing sustainability and ESG strategies, including compiling carbon emissions inventories.
Environmental Compliance
Advantus has extensive experience with Clean Water Act (CWA) compliance, including industrial Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan / Preparedness; Prevention and Contingency Plan (SWPPP / PPC) development; National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) industrial and commercial permitting; wastewater pretreatment engineering studies and discharge applications; and regulatory negotiation. We also have experience with Environmental Management Systems (EMS), sustainability performance plans, remedial investigation and reporting, facility planning, and public outreach and education.
Construction Quality Assurance & Coordination
Construction quality assurance and coordination services at Advantus include engineering design reviews, bid document reviews, construction cost estimates, schedule development, ensuring compliance with scope of work, reviewing and documenting contract performance, monitoring jobsite safety, attending and conducting job meetings, field investigative services, and checking as-built drawings. We also advise on a variety of topics, including construction administration, progress payments, condition of equipment, recommendation on changes in scope, maintenance assessments, life cycle cost analysis, owner’s training, punch list items, and project closeout.
Construction Inspection
Advantus provides a wide range of construction inspection services, including scheduling work, PA One Call-submittal, site planning, documentation of work completed, safety review, quality assurance, GPS data collection, restoration coordination, and closing surveys.
MEP Assessments
Advantus professionals collectively have over eighty years of design experience. We use this experience to help our clients evaluate and inspect HVAC systems, troubleshoot issues, and determine options for required maintenance and improvement.
