Pittsburgh Public Schools On-Call
Services
Commissioning + MEP & Energy Assessments + Construction Administration + Project Management
Advantus served as an on-call engineering consultant to Pittsburgh Public Schools for more than fifteen years, providing engineering, project management, commissioning, and construction administration services across a wide range of school facilities. As prime consultant on numerous projects, Advantus led HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and architectural improvements, as well as building assessments, chiller and boiler replacements, air-conditioning projects, restroom additions, elevator assessments, and other facility upgrades.
Many of these projects included field investigations, engineering studies, evaluation of improvement options, and life-cycle cost analysis to help PPS plan and prioritize capital work. Advantus also provided retro-commissioning and construction-phase services and worked closely with district staff and maintenance contractors to identify and address building system deficiencies.
Advantus also played a significant role in PPS efforts to address lead in drinking water across district schools and facilities. Following early water-quality sampling efforts, Advantus served as the lead engineer for a multi-phase program to design upgrades to domestic water fixtures and incorporate lead filtration throughout the district. The work also included construction inspection and project coordination associated with implementation of the improvements.
More recent work included district-wide HVAC system assessments, with Advantus evaluating HVAC equipment throughout PPS facilities and coordinating with the district’s maintenance contractor to address deficiencies identified during the assessments.
