Advantus is an on-call engineering consultant for Pittsburgh Public Schools.

Advantus has been an on-call engineering consultant for Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS) for well over a decade. Advantus served as the prime consultant on a wide range of projects including architectural improvements, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical projects. Projects also included multiple chiller and boiler replacements, both low and high-pressure steam boilers and associated piping, pumping equipment, and controls. Most projects include field investigative services, an engineering study, and a report on the options and life cycle cost analysis for various improvement options.

Advantus’ plumbing projects have included the upgrade of water heaters, and in 2016 Advantus was called upon to assist PPS in preparing for water quality sampling in all of their school buildings during the summertime. Advantus is currently continuing design work on the upgrade of domestic water fixtures and filters at the school district’s buildings and facilities. This initiative was recently featured in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Pittsburgh Public School Officials Unveil New Initiatives to Limit Lead in Drinking Water.

Other projects have included the addition of restrooms, a comprehensive district-wide elevator assessment, the addition of air conditioning, the relocation of an HVAC technical training lab, chiller and boiler replacements, countless due diligence reports, retro-commissioning, and construction administration.
